Horse Shoe Spread

Horse Shoe Spread #1

Difficulty: Easy

The Horse Shoe is a classic tarot spread. It is more advanced than the three-card reading, yet simpler than most other spreads. It is a versatile method that can be used for most queries, though there are other spreads which would go into more depth. Like the simple Past, Present, and Future spread, it contains these cards in positions #1, #2, and #7, but also has four other tarot cards that help the reader understand how to deal with the future better. The cards are to be read as follows:

  1. The Past: Past events affecting the question.
  2. The Present: The current state or approaching influence.
  3. Hidden Influences: Things the reader may not be aware of (or barely be aware of).
  4. Obstacles: This is the challenge: obstacles may be avoided or may have to be dealt with.
  5. External Influences: Attitudes and thoughts regarding people around the reader.
  6. Suggestions: Recommended course of action.
  7. Outcome: The result of following the suggestions.

The Past represents past events that are affecting the question.

King of Diamonds

Virgo: The King of Diamonds stands as the embodiment of mastery over the material realm, wielding his expertise with precision and dedication. His reign is characterised by a focus on agricultural abundance, craftsmanship, and the efficient management of resources. He represents a figure of authority deeply invested in the practical aspects of life—his disciplined approach ensuring that every venture is executed with reliability, even if it sometimes comes at the expense of more transcendent pursuits.

The Present represents the current state or immediately approaching influence.

Jack of Hearts

Scorpio: Moving gracefully in the shadows, this enigmatic figure is driven by a fierce, insatiable ambition for hidden wisdom and power. His calm exterior belies an ocean of turbulent passion. His presence urges you to delve into the depths of your own emotions, confronting buried truths and harnessing transformative intensity, even when it challenges the status quo.

Hidden Influences - Things that you may not be aware of, or barely be aware of.

Ten of Clubs

Oppression (Saturn in Sagittarius): The Ten of Clubs serves as a stark warning about the misuse of raw power. Under the heavy hand of Saturn in Sagittarius, this card represents energy turned destructive—brute force that suppresses growth and stifles creativity. It cautions against the potential for self-imposed or external repression, where ambition may devolve into cruelty or malice if not guided by wisdom and compassion. It urges you to seek balance and channel your fiery energy constructively, lest it become an instrument of oppression.

Lies, repression, cruelty, malice. The element of fire in its most destructive form.

Obstacle - This is the challenge.

Two of Spades

Peace (Moon in Libra): In the delicate balance of the Two of Spades, contradictory qualities converge to form a fragile equilibrium. Influenced by the reflective Moon in Libra, this card speaks of reconciliation and the emergence of calm after strife. It suggests that true peace can arise from the integration of opposing forces—an eventual harmony where past conflicts settle into a state of bittersweet resolution and renewed understanding.

Pleasure after pain. Quarrel resolved.

External Influences - Attitudes about this situation from people around the querent.

Nine of Spades

Cruelty (Mars in Gemini): The Nine of Spades confronts you with a raw depiction of suffering and malice. Infused with the aggressive energy of Mars in Gemini, it reveals the darker facets of human interaction—lies, despair, and the infliction of pain borne from both external conflict and inner turmoil. This card acts as a stark reminder of the perils of untempered aggression and the importance of compassion, encouraging you to transform harshness into healing when faced with cruelty.

Suffering, pain, malice, loss, lies, despair, slander.

Suggestion - The recommended course of action.

King of Clubs

Sagittarius: A man of action and expansive vision, he strides forward with unyielding generosity and an adventurous spirit. His pride and impetuosity propel him into leadership, yet his fiery nature reminds you to balance spontaneity with wisdom. He is the call to pursue your goals with both bold passion and reflective insight.

A man of action, generosity, pride, and impetuousness.

The Outcome - What will happen if the suggestion is followed.

King of Hearts

Pisces: A tender, sensitive figure attuned to the subtle pull of attraction, he embodies the empathetic allure of Piscean energy. Though quick to respond to emotional calls, there is a risk of superficiality if depth is neglected. His influence reminds you to cultivate heartfelt connections, balancing your sensitivity with self-awareness to protect and enrich your inner world.
