Madam Lenormand was a famous French fortune-teller from the revolutionary era who allegedly read the fortune of Napoleon, and had her own personalized deck of 36 cards. Although it is more likely that she used modified playing cards than having her own painted, personalized set, a tradition has been born from this legend. As a result, there are a number of modernized Lenormand fortune-telling decks available today.
